International Conference: ”Romania and the Entente”
Romania entered WWI in August 1916, at a time of strong crisis for the Entente coalition, drawing upon itself numerous Central Powers forces and fighting in the next four months, on a very large battlefront.
In spite of this, the Central Powers failed to knock Romania out of the war. In the summer of 1917, with the support of Entente, especially France, in difficult circumstances produced by the Russian Revolution, the Romanian army stopped the enemy offensive and obtained big victories at Mărăşti, Mărăşeşti and Oituz. This allowed Romania to exercises its attributes as an independent and sovereign State, whilst fighting together with its Entente allies, to achieve its national unity in 1918.
The Conference is dedicated to these complex events and their interconnections with the policy of the Coalition, the position and links with the other national movements for peace and a new post-war architecture of international relations.
