Delays in the start-up of cohesion policy for 2014-2020 – European Parliament Strasbourg
Victor Bostinaru MEP on the debate “Delays in the start-up of cohesion policy for 2014-2020”
“One year after the adoption of the legislative package for the new Cohesion Policy, the situation is extremely worrying, and there is absolute need for all EU institutions to take their responsibilities.
We know that only about 100 Operational Programmes will be adopted by the end of 2014, and only some Operational Programmes will be able to benefit of the carry-over procedure. We cannot afford any further delays in the start of the new programming period of the most important EU investment policy, and even less can we afford losing the 2014 budget for most of the Operational Programmes.
I therefore call on the Commission to use all means at its disposal to evaluate as quickly as possible the documents submitted by the national authorities, and on all Member States to cooperate with the European Parliament for a swift adoption of the necessary revision to the MFF.”
